Clapping Away

I am not feeling terribly sparky today. Sorry. I will be boring, but I will try to keep it brief. Plus I need to find more Rolaids. I did not know that pregnancy dissolves esophaguses. Also, the cats keep drinking out of my glass, even if I just gave them water. I just will not drink after them. I mean, would you drink after someone who uses her tongue as a washcloth? Ew.

Man, you have no idea how much I wish this was not the only picture I have. Alas. I think I am a little more than half way done with the middle section, so you know I'll finish this up in just short of forever. I'm thinking about starting some socks so that I have something different to photograph. But that would defeat the FO objective. I really just need to COMMIT. At least it's not as bad as the damn white-Rococo-yarncake-wrap.

M's [School Avoidance] Culture Report

I think I'm losing my literary cred. I was watching The Count of Monte Cristo, the newish one, the other night (what cataloging assignment?). When I watch movies based on books, I try really hard to take them as separate things--I am pretty good at thinking of the Harry Potter movies this way. But sometimes, I just end up thinking, "Hey, that's not what happened" over and over and over (I'm looking at you, Troy). So anyway, there I was, thinking, "Wow, this ending is so totally not the real ending." And I did not care--in fact, I liked it better. It was happier. Go ride off into that sunset with unabashed joy! Hooray!

Jeez. Next thing you know, I'm going to become a devotee of movies that have their own official MySpace pages. Or adapt A Tale of Two Cities for a screenplay wherein Sydney Carton miraculously escapes and finds true happiness. Might as well paint a unicorn dancing on a rainbow on the living room wall. You guys--please intervene if it looks like it's coming to that. I beg you.

I'm going to hire you to write a happy ending for my own personal story! You know, girl meets redhead of dreams with a cute behind and they go off into the sunset and have a fun life teasing each other and have a few kids.....oh wait, that is my life.

Clap is looking great. I know what you mean by slow progress, though, (as my poor Blue Heron rayon metallic shawl still sits unfinished in its green Lettuce Knit bag).

And I totally agree about the cats drinking from your water glass. It got to the point that now mine don't have a water bowl, they have cups, so that maybe they'll lay off of my glass.

Regarding movies with better endings than the book - how about Pat Conroy's "Lords of Discipline"?
